Wrestler Sushil Kumar wins Olympic bronze medal for India

Wrestler Sushil Kumar wins Olympic bronze medal for India taking India's tally of medals in the Beijing 2008 Olympics ( बीजिंग २००८ ) to 2.

Sushil Kumar contested in the 66kg Freestyle Wrestling at Beijing Olympics and beat Spiridonov of Kazhakastan in the bronze medal bout. The Indian boxer gained access to the bronze medal round thru the repecharge round even though he lost in the first round. The Last time an Indian Wrestler won a medal was when K D Yadav won the bronze medal in Wrestling in 1952 Olympic Games Helsinki

The earlier medal was won by Abhinav Bindra- gold in shooting. As India is celebrating, it is awaiting the Kumar boxers' bout for a place in the semi-finals in Boxing.

India won its first (Ever?) Individual gold medal at the Olympics in Bejing 2008 today through Abhinav Bindra in the shooting category.


In the Men's 10m Air Rifle held this morning,(11 August Monday), India's Abhinav Bindra won India's first individual Gold medal at the Olympic Games 2008.( was it the first ever Individual GOld at the Olympics?)

Abhinav Bindra had come out 7th at the Athens Olympic Games and had emerged victorious at the World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia and 4th at the Asian Games, Bangkok, Thailand.

Psephology is that branch of inexact science that in India is a long way from maturity.

As pre-election opinion polls and during-elections exit polls have been,well, consistently inconsistent.

The 2008 Karnataka poll is the most recent empirical evidence to help one arrive at this conclusion.

Universal adult franchise, enables the entire population above the age of 18 to constitute the electoral college. The sample interviewed by the pollsters /psephology team is probably too small a sample to predict the outcome.
