It is this body along with State Election Commission that administers the most important instrument of democracy- general elections. General Elections to the LOk Sabha, the lower house of Indian Parliament is due in May 2009. In the fray is BJP's official Prime Ministerial Candidate Shri Lal Krishna Advani, Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India, Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.
