Upakarma, Rig, Yajur and Sama 2008

Upakarma (Tamil :Avani Avittam): Nature and Purpose
Upakarma (/upaakarma/)
Upakarma is one of the ancient Vedic Rituals observed by brahmins (Hindu caste). The noticeable aspect of the ceremony is that replacement of the Yagnopavita or the Holy Thread worn by men across the upper body from left shoulder to right waist.
Upakarma, in Samskrit, means "Initiation" and traditionally, the day was considered auspicious to initiate the Vedic studies.
