Ajanta Mendis ( not Ajantha Mendis). Ajanta's full name is Balapuwaduge Ajantha Winslo Mendis. 23 year old Ajanta was born on 11th March 1985 in Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. Apart from the National team of Sri Lanka, Ajanta has also played for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL Twenty20, Sri Lanka Army, Wayamba.
His Batting style is Right-hand bat and more importantly his Bowling style Right-arm slow-medium ( and this description hardly does justice to his bowling style) .
Ajantha Mendis is a spin bowler who bowls a variety of deliveries including googlies, offbreaks, top-spinners, flippers and leg-breaks. Batsmen have been regularly stumped ( literally, as well as figuratively) by the sheer variety of deliveries he has up in his armoury. and are at a loss to figure out what his stock delivery is. Mendis has been a prolific wicket-taker for the domestic team Sri Lanka Army in the domestic first claass 2007-08 season and had taken forty six wickets at an average of over 10 runs with a strike-rate of thirtyone from 6 games. His performances was rewarded when he was selected to represent the Sri Lanka squad for the West Indies seriew in April 2008.
On 6 July 2008, Ajanta bowled a match-winning 6 for 13 against India in the Asia Cup Final at Karachi, Pakistan. He was rewarded with a Man-of-the-match for his efforts.
