Kuselan is Rajnikanth 's next movie. While this is a Tamil movie, it will simultaneously be made into Telugu as Kathanayukudu. Rajnikanth may be playing a guest role and not a full fledged role.

Kuselan audio (Kathanayukudu audio) was launched earlier today. Big Music has bagged the rights for cassettes and CDs. There is a clamour to download Kuselan mp3 songs (music). ICAI or the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India's website is attracting too much traffic that the website is down.

Why could this be ? No resutls are due ( PE-2 or FInal or CPT). Is it because today is the last date to check the CC papers ( course completion) test papers ?

Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw dead

Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw ( full name : Field Marshal Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw) died late yesterday, the 27 June 2008. He was ailing in the Wellington Hospital in Tamil Nadu for sometime now.

The Field Marshal, one of the only 2 India has had led the Indian Defence against Pakistan in 1971 and brought victory. He is a Padma Vibhushan and Military Cross awardee. The last President Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam had visited Sam Manekshaw in hospital in 2007.

May his soul rest in peace.

The Anna University Rank list 2008 or the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions 2008 was released on 25 June 2008. For 2009, it is awaited, still.

Asia Cup begins in Pakistan from 24 June 2008 and will go on till 6 July 2008. Six Teams are participating and they have been divided into 2 groups as follows.

It is Haj season and India has been allotted a quota of 1.1 lakh persons . This quota devolves into states. This year in Uttar Pradesh the number of pilgrims seeking a berth far exceeds the quota for UP.

Hence the State Haj Committee officials are considering a lottery system to allot the berths.
UP has been allotted an additional quota in wake of poor response in the other states. A study into why there has been a sudden excess demand amongst Uttar Pradesh may lead to interesting sociological and political ( if not economic) conclusions.

Padmapriya , wife of Raghupathi Bhat

Padmapriya, the wife of BJP MLA for Udupi Raghupathi Bhat died under mysterious cicrumstances, in Delhi.
She is alleged to have commited suicide in a guest house in Dwaraka Nagar in Delhi.
What makes the tragic story intriguing is information supplied by the police just 24 hours earlier-that Padmapriya had been safely found near Udupi.

The police and the government have a lot of explaining to do. If not for the public, to Mr. Raghupathi Bhat and his family.

Dasavathaaram the movie starring Kamal Hassan (10 times over) releases this friday.

Ranbaxy to be bought by Daiichi

Daiichi Sankyo Co., A Japanese pharma company, will buy the 38% stake of the Singh family in Ranbaxy and possibly a further 20% ( on account of the open-offer they will have to make).

This will give Daiichi access to the fast-growing generic drung market and capability.

The jury is still out on whether it meant business sense for MMS and SMS.

RBI hikes repo rate

Reserve Bank of India, today, hiked the repo rate by 25 basis points.

The RBI announced that this measure was taken to contain the inflationary expectations as inflation touched a the highest in more than 3 years.
